Program Celebrates 20th Anniversary

The Italian Culture Series of Immaculata University is sponsoring a two-part series in October entitled Italian Opera: A Bridge for Generations.

The first event is a workshop for children ages 4 to12. The program, "Pinocchio – An Opera Workshop for Children" will be held at Immaculata University on Sunday, October 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the Open Door of Alumnae Hall. The workshop features the music of Mozart and Offenbach. Immaculata students will help children to audition and to create scenery, props, and costumes. Participants then produce a mini-opera under the supervision of accomplished performers. JP Production Company of Wayne, PA, is presenting this workshop and Pat Jordan, singer, actor, and educator, is the principal performer.
The cost is $10.00 per child and $25.00 for a family of three or more. The event is limited to 100 children. For more information, contact Jeanne Murray at 610-647-4400, ext. 3137.

On Sunday, October 24, there will be a 20th Anniversary Concert and Tribute called "Operatic Ensemble of Young Voices: A Study of Puccini, Verdi, and Others," at 3:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Three performers, some recent finalists of opera competitions, are scheduled to perform.
The event is a video tribute and memorial concert for Pia Raffaele, founder of the Italian Culture Series, and professor of Italian and Spanish at Immaculata University.
The cost is $20.00 per person and reservations are required. For more information, please contact Jeanne at 610-647-4400, ext. 3137.

Immaculata University, a Catholic liberal arts institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
