Symphony Youth Concert

The Immaculata Symphony, a university-community organization, held its annual Youth Concert entitled The Composer is Dead, on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at 3 p.m. in Alumnae Hall.   Joseph Gehring conducted and Daniel Williams served as narrator.

The Composer is Dead is an exciting and perplexing murder mystery.  Based on the book by Lemony Snicket and composed by Nathaniel Stookey, participants helped solve the mystery by joining the inspector (played by narrator, Daniel Williams) as he interrogated all the unusual suspects.  Since each section of the orchestra seemed to have a motive or alibi, The Composer is Dead kept the audience guessing who was responsible until the very end.  Also on the program was the Internet Symphony No. 1 “Eroica” composed by Tan Dun (composer for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).
