“Steinway & Sons Comes to Immaculata” Event

On Thursday, June 8, at 7:30 p.m., Dr. William Carr, DMA, Steinway Artist and professor of music at Immaculata University, will perform a special concert in celebration of Steinway & Sons Comes to Immaculata. The week-long event begins Tuesday, June 6, and concludes Sunday, June 11.
In addition to Dr. Carr´s performance on June 8, two other Immaculata University faculty members will be performing. Maria Jose-Martin, DMA, pianist, will perform Sonata in d minor by Scarlatti, Minuet in f minor and Sonata in d minor both by Seixar, Waltz in e minor by Chopin, Prelude in g minor by Rachmaninoff, and Toccata by Ravel. Janet Ahlquist, pianist, will perform Nocturne in D Flat Major…Op. 27, No.2 by Chopin, Sonnetto 104 del Petrarca by Liszt, Grande Polonaise Brillant (preceded by the Andante Spianato)…Op. 22 by Chopin, and Der Jongleur…Op. 31, No.3 by Toch. Dr. Carr´s performance will include Sonata in a minor …K.310 (Mv´t 1) by Mozart, Etude in E Major…Op. 10, No. 3 by Chopin, and Nocturne in c minor…Op. 48, No. 1 by Chopin.
Several activities are planned during that week:
• Thursday, June 8; Concert by Steinway Artist Dr. William Carr, Maria Jose-Martin, and Janet Ahlquist
• Thursday, June 8; live broadcast from Immaculata University by WRTI Radio´s on-air personality Jill Pasternak from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
• Jacobs Music Company will conduct the Great Steinway & Sons Selection Event on Friday, June 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, June 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Immaculata University´s Great Hall. • A Piano Perform-a-thon to benefit children with life threatening illnesses (through the Hope for Henry Foundation) will be held from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9; and from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11
• Jacobs Music Company´s Steinway & Sons Art-Case Tour 2006, a display of more than a half dozen handcrafted, limited edition pianos including the Steuben Glass Piano. Historical information on each piano will be personally presented by the staff of Jacobs Music
