Sister Regina Ryan, IHM, Joins Immaculata University’s Education Faculty
Sister Regina J. Ryan, IHM, a graduate of Immaculata University, joins Immaculata´s Education Department as an assistant professor of Education for graduate and undergraduate divisions. Gaining valuable experience on both the local and national level, Sister Regina worked for the past nine years at Bishop Denis J. O´Connell High School in Arlington, VA, as assistant principal for Academics. During this time, Sister Regina served on the board of the Virginia Catholic Education Association (VCEA), and as a regional representative for the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA).
During her career, Sister Regina chaired the Department of Theology and served as campus minister at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami, FL. Showcasing her appreciation for world-wide education, Sister assumed responsibilities including developing and supervising student study programs in France, assisting with the study program in Spain and overseeing the development of curriculum throughout the department. In addition she taught a number of Theology and French courses. With a passion for working with students, Sister Regina mentored 65 student peer leaders on a weekly basis, moderated groups of students doing missionary work in the Dominican Republic, oversaw all school liturgies throughout the school year, and planned, arranged, and presided over several retreats.
After receiving her bachelor´s degree in French and Theology from Immaculata University, Sister Regina taught in elementary and middle schools in Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Earning a master´s degree in Religious Studies: Sacred Scripture from St. Charles Seminary, she went on to attain her doctorate in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. She also holds a license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with a Professional Certificate in French as well as in the Commonwealth of Virginia with a Doctorate Professional License and Principal´s Endorsement.
While assuming her new position at Immaculata University, Sister Regina commented, "As a member of the Education Division of Immaculata University, I have the pleasure to work with educators â€“ both pre-service and experienced â€“ in the pursuit of excellence in their chosen profession. To me that privilege is both invigorating and exciting."
Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
