New Chair of the Division of Education
Immaculata University is pleased to announce that Melissa Reed, Ed.D., of Wayne, PA., has joined the faculty as chair of the Division of Education where she will oversee the graduate and undergraduate education programs and supervise ten full-time faculty members.
“Immaculata University has a rich history centered on teacher preparation and innovative education that is student-centered and encourages academic excellence, creativity, and social responsibility. I am honored to contribute to the success of the University and the Division of Education,” stated Reed on her new position.
Most recently serving as program director and assistant professor for the School for Graduate and Professional Studies at Gwynedd Mercy University, Reed enhanced the online graduate-level education courses as well as the traditional formats. She also served as an adjunct faculty member at Gwynedd Mercy for four years and provided her expertise as a subject matter expert consultant. Reed began her teaching career as a faculty member for DPT Business School in Philadelphia before joining the faculty of The Community Education Alliance and Girard College, also in Philadelphia.
Earning her undergraduate degree in Communication from East Stroudsburg University, Reed continued her education receiving a Master of Science in Education from Gwynedd Mercy University and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Walden University. Reed holds Pennsylvania Instructional II Certifications in English (7-12 grades), Mid-Level English (grades 7-9), and Elementary Education (K-6 grades).
As an expert in educational issues, Reed is a frequent presenter at various national and international conferences and workshops. She most recently presented at the International Research Methods Summer School at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick, Ireland as well as the International Education Conference in London, England.
Immaculata University offers the following undergraduate education degree programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts: PreK-4; Grades 4-8, Special Education, PreK-8, and Secondary Education. Immaculata also offers an advanced degree in Educational Leadership at the master’s level with various administrative and instructional certifications and endorsements and a doctoral degree program for Educational Leadership with supervisory and letter of eligibility certifications. Several Immaculata alumni hold superintendent, Intermediate Unit Director, and principal positions across the tri-state area.
