Mary Kate Walsh Selected for Presidential Scholarship
Immaculata University is pleased to announce that incoming freshman Mary Kate Walsh of Philadelphia, PA (19111), has been given a Presidential Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship worth $30,700 per year, to attend Immaculata. The Presidential Scholarship is awarded to a select number of students with a record of academic excellence. Students are evaluated on the basis of GPA (students must maintain a 3.25 GPA), class rigor, standardized test scores, class rank, and recommendations. There are five recipients of the Immaculata Presidential Scholarship this year.
Upon hearing the news that she had been selected as a Presidential Scholar, Walsh stated, “I was so thankful. All I knew was that I was accepted, welcomed, and wanted at a college institution. That felt reassuring.”
As a graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Walsh was very active participating in orchestra, the advanced choir group, and the soccer team for which she was Junior Varsity captain. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, serving as treasurer during her senior year; Community Service Corp; Mathletes Club, a Diocesan mathematics competition club; and was a Little Flower Ambassador for four years. She was recognized by the Emergency Foundation of Pennsylvania for Outstanding Service to her school and community and also received the Widener University High School Leadership Award. Walsh plans to major in Communication at Immaculata.
Walsh commented, “Receiving this scholarship enabled me to attend a university where faith thrives.”
