Mary Daly Gallagher Receives the Alumnae/i Medal

Mary Daly Gallagher of Broomall, PA, received the Alumnae Medal at the 2005 Homecoming ceremony at Immaculata University.
This award is presented in recognition of outstanding volunteer service and support to Immaculata University. Mary exemplifies the goal and ideals of Immaculata in her life and through her devoted service to advance the mission of the Alumnae/i Association of Immaculata University. Mary earned her BS in Home Economics from Immaculata University in 1944.
Since her graduation, Mary has attended and served as a committee member for every Homecoming. As a member of the Delaware County Chapter of the Alumnae/i Association since the 1970s, and chair since 1986, Mary has made that Chapter the most active of all the Association Chapters with 75 alumni members. Mary plans a yearly agenda with speakers and dinner meetings and coordinates an annual newsletter to Chapter members. An active supporter of Immaculata University events such as Council Day, the annual Alumnae Telethon, the Amethyst Ball, and the Art Show, Mary was an elected member of the Alumnae/i Board of Governors for 16 years and was chair of the Board´s Nominations Committee.
Edith Petillo, director of the Alumnae Office of Immaculata University, comments that "Mary has consistently given her time and talent to promoting Immaculata. She embodies the word volunteer."
As a dedicated member of St. Bernadette´s Parish in Drexel Hill, PA for 53 years, she serves as a lector and Eucharistic minister. She has been active in collecting toys and donations for the annual Toys for Tots at Christmas. Mary has been the sole parent of her seven children for the past 36 years following her husband´s sudden death. She has seven grandchildren.
Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
