IU Welcomes Class of 2009
When freshmen arrive on the campus of Immaculata University for the start of the fall semester, they will be making history. Not only is the College of Undergraduate Studies´ Class of 2009 the first traditional-age, coeducational class â€“ but it is also the largest incoming freshmen class in the history of the university. Over 335 men and women will enter Immaculata for the first time as either freshmen or transferring students.
"The enrollment numbers for the class of 2009 reflect the planning initiatives by the campus community and the eagerness of students to attend a university with strong academic programs. We look forward to the arrival of the first coed class and the largest freshmen class in our history," comments Sister Carroll Isselmann, vice president for Academic Affairs.
As part of many changes on campus, Immaculata University added several new programs and courses to its offerings including a new major in Political Science and International Relations, and minors or certificate programs in Graphic Arts and Middle East Studies. Immaculata is also introducing new foreign language courses in Mandarin, Arabic, and Irish.
New men´s sport´s teams will be a vital aspect of campus life. Beginning September 2, the soccer team will initiate its inaugural season followed by the basketball team´s season opener on November 18. Men´s tennis and golf will begin in Spring 2006.
Since its founding in 1920, Immaculata University has been known for its quality educational programs serving students of all ages throughout the region and the nation. Immaculata has grown to enroll over 3900 students in the bachelor´s, master´s, and
