Immaculata University Student, Bridget Skipper, Served as Vice President of Regional Association of Music Therapy Students

Bridget Skipper, a resident of Reading, PA, and a music major going into her senior year at Immaculata University, recently served as vice president for the Mid-Atlantic Region Association of Music Therapy Students for a one-year term.
As vice president, Bridget got the opportunity to travel to San Diego, CA, along with the president of the association, for the National Music Therapy Conference. Bridget stated, "It was such a great opportunity to meet so many music therapists from across the country. It was a great chance to network with professionals and learn about music therapy in different regions of the country."
Bridget spent the end of her freshman year until the spring of her sophomore year as a parliamentarian of the region. She was elected to this position after the first music therapy conference that she attended. The duties as parliamentarian entailed that Bridget attend the four business meetings the association held during the term and make sure the by-laws were being followed.
As graduation approaches, Bridget hopes that she will become a music therapist once she graduates. "I believe that leaders are born from people around them who take the effort to encourage and be great influences on their lives. I could never have achieved so much without my family, friends and, most importantly, music teachers who have taken the time to support my efforts and encourage me throughout my whole life."
The national organization for music therapy is called the American Music Therapy Association. The United States is broken down into regions for Music Therapy. Pennsylvania is part of the Mid-Atlantic Region which extends from New York to Virginia. The mission of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Music Therapy Association is to advance public awareness of the benefits of music therapy, to increase access to quality music therapy services, and to provide support to its members within the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Bridget attended Central Catholic Reading located in Reading, PA, where she graduated in the class of 2007.
Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
