Immaculata University Hires Executive Director of University Communications
Immaculata University announces that Reading, PA, resident Melissa A. Kushner is the new executive director of University Communications. In this capacity, she will oversee the marketing, branding, and communications efforts of the University.
Since 2003, Kushner served as director of marketing and communications for Reading Area Community College where she was instrumental in enhancing the profile of the College by utilizing and enhancing electronic media, building relationships with internal and external audiences, securing national media coverage, and developing a crisis communications plan.
Kushner began her professional career as a media relations specialist for Dick Jones Communications in State College, PA, before serving as creative manager for Mic-Ellen Associates in Harleysville, PA. As an active member of her local community, she volunteers and also held leadership positions for Girls on the Run of Berks County and Relay for Life of Reading.
Earning a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising/Public Relations from The Pennsylvania State University, Kushner keeps current in her field through memberships in professional organizations including the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR); the College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals (CUPRAP); and the Delaware Valley Community College Marketing Group.
