Immaculata University Continues its Offerings of Irish Studies Courses
Immaculata University´s Irish Studies Program courses for the Fall 2006 semester include:
Elementary Irish Language 1. The class is an introduction to the language and culture of Ireland and is held on Mondays, August 28, through December 11, from 7:15 to 9:45 p.m. The cost is $1,065 for the three-credit class or $170 if taken as a non-credit workshop.
Advanced Irish Language. This class is for students wishing to continue their studies in the Irish language. Irish Language (IRL 101 or 102) is a pre-requisite for this class that is being held on Wednesdays, August 30, through December 14, from 7:15 to 9:45 p.m. The cost is $1,065 for the three-credit class or $170 if taken as a non-credit workshop.
Introducing John B. Keane. This course focuses on three plays of this popular Kerry writer. The class is offered on Thursdays, September 7, 14, 21, 28, and October 5, from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. The cost is $355 for the one-credit class or $170 if taken as a non-credit workshop.
Celtic Spirituality. This class traces Celtic spiritual traditions from the pagan past to contemporary Christian practice and is held on Thursdays, October 12, 19, 26, and November 2, and 9, from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. The cost is $355 for the one-credit class or $170 if taken as a non-credit workshop.
The Legend of Duffy´s Cut. This class explores the legends and research on the graves of Irish railroad laborers. Offered on Friday, October 27, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. and continues on Saturday, October 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the cost is $355 for the one-credit class or $170 if taken as a non-credit workshop.
Traditional Irish Dancing. This class is offered on Mondays, August 28, to December 11, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The cost for the non-credit workshop is $170.
Lecture â€“ "The Abbey Theatre: Then and Now" is presented on Wednesday, October 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Loyola Hall on the campus of Immaculata University. The lecture is free and open to the public.
