Symphony Presents its Fall Concert

The Immaculata Symphony will perform its fall concert, "Symphonic Treasures" on Saturday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Alumnae Hall on the campus of Immaculata University. The Immaculata Symphony is a university-community organization, with a long and outstanding tradition that goes back to the university´s founding in 1920.

Conducted by Joseph Gehring, the Symphony´s music director, the orchestra will begin the concert with Verdi´s dramatic "Overture to ‘La Forza Del Destino.´" Tuba player Tyler Schwirian will perform Bruce Broughton´s charming and witty "Tuba Concerto," and the concert will conclude with Dvořák´s exuberant Symphony No. 8.

Gehring, the assistant conductor of the Immaculata Symphony and the band director at Immaculata University, is an active conductor, pianist, and educator. He is a frequent guest conductor of various honor/festival bands and orchestras throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware. As the Symphony´s assistant conductor, he has developed multiple interactive youth programs with a focus on music education for all ages, which this season will include the popular story "Green Eggs and Ham." With an interest in promoting new music as well as cherishing the music of the past, Gehring strives to create programs with all of his ensembles that represent outstanding music covering many different genres. He recently earned a Master of Music Performance degree in orchestral conducting.

Cost for the concert is $12 for general admission, $10 for senior citizens, $6 for students, and free for children under the age of 12. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
