Graduate Workshop: “Enhancing Reality Therapy”
The College of Graduate Studies at Immaculata University will offer a Special Topic Workshop on "Enhancing Reality Therapy: An Integrated Approach" on Saturdays, March 12 and 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Loyola Hall on the University´s campus. Dr. Michael Dyson will lead this workshop.
This course will present the theory and application of an integrated model, which emphasizes choice and responsibility. Reality Therapy (RT) tends to be directive, goal-oriented, didactic, and content focused. However, progress is often thwarted as clients experience difficulty identifying subjective wants and relinquishing less effective behaviors. Existential-Humanistic Therapy (EHT) is a complementary approach because it adds essential elements of support, depth exploration, and the primacy of the subjective to the therapeutic relationship. Dr. Dyson will help attendees flexibly work from an RT and EHT perspective with the goal of enhancing therapy outcome.
Immaculata University is recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. Immaculata adheres to the NBCC continuing education guidelines.
Cost for the one-credit course is $440 and $160 if taken as a non-credit workshop. For more information contact the College of Graduate Studies at 610-647-4400, ext. 3211.
