A Beacon Ever Bright Campaign
On Friday, December 2, Immaculata University kicked off a comprehensive campaign, A Beacon Ever Bright, to fund several critical projects campus-wide. The goal for the campaign is $25 million; currently nearly $15 million toward the goal has been achieved. The kick-off event was for the public support phase and also recognized current donors at a reception held at the Oakbourne Mansion.
“Thanks to the generosity of early donors, A Beacon Ever Bright is already the most successful campaign in the history of Immaculata,” stated Kevin Quinn, vice president for University Advancement. “People are excited to support opportunities that provide educational opportunities for our students, new students space, and preserve the history of our beautiful campus.”
Projects that will be funded by the campaign include construction of a new Student Engagement Center that will include multi-level space for students to meet, dine, socialize, and study. The Student Engagement Center, a 14,444 square foot space, will have seating for 100 people in the dining area consisting of several food stations, a gas-fired pizza oven, fire places on both levels, large windows to allow natural light and great views of the Great Valley all within a refined industrial aesthetic look of exposed steel, textured wood and earth tones. The exterior design of gray stone walls and a red roof will match the other buildings on campus. Good Counsel Hall will also get a facelift consisting of new flooring, windows and bathrooms, fresh paint and sound-proofing materials. Upgrades to the building’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems will improve energy efficiency. A new sprinkler system and an additional elevator will be part of the renovations.
In addition to the new Student Engagement Center, the restoration of Immaculata’s crown jewel and Chester County icon, the Dome of Villa Maria Hall, will be a priority. Restoration includes masonry work to protect the structure, new windows, and new copper coating to protect against corrosion of the dome’s copper exterior.
As important as the tangible projects are to the campus community, A Beacon Ever Bright is also focusing on helping students afford an education through scholarships and financial aid available from the Immaculata Fund that also supports instructional technologies, faculty conferences and research, opportunities for student internships, international study programs, scholarly research projects and service learning. The University is also strengthening its endowment to secure financial stability.
