450 High School Students to Run in Immaculata Relays
On Friday, September 3, the men´s and women´s Immaculata University cross-country team is hosting the first annual Immaculata Relays, an invitational relay for high school junior varsity and varsity students from the region. Approximately 350-450 students will be participating from ten schools. The Relay takes place from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. on the campus of Immaculata University.
The Immaculata University cross-country team will be helping out with the meet. The student-athletes will serve as course marshalls, sell concessions, and help with the awards ceremony. Awards will be given to both the boys and girls junior varsity races for those placing 1-10. In the varsity race, the top ten pairs for both the boys and girls will be awarded medals. In addition, the 1st and 2nd place boys and girls teams will be awarded a trophy.
Teams attending the Immaculata Relays include: Governor Mifflin High School, Berks County, Downingtown East and Downingtown West in Chester County, Henderson High School, Chester County, Rustin High School, Chester County, Kennett High School, Chester County, Unionville High School, Chester County, Pottsgrove High School, Montgomery County, Delaware County Christian School, Delaware County, and Tatnall School, New Castle County, Delaware.
Alexander Proctor, Immaculata University´s head coach for men´s and women´s cross country and track and field, commented that "This event is a great opportunity for local students to see how beautiful Immaculata´s campus is."
Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
