26th Annual Immaculata University Art Show: Event Moves to May
The 26th Annual Immaculata University Art Show will be held from Saturday, May 9, through Sunday, May 17, in Alumnae Hall. The Gala Preview Reception takes place on Friday, May 8, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Each year, the Art Show features original works by regional, national, and international juried artists. This year´s show will present approximately 175 artists´ works, which will be available for purchase and on display in Alumnae Hall on the university´s campus. All proceeds of this event benefit Immaculata University´s scholarship fund.
The 2009 Featured Artist is Berks County resident Michele Byrne who paints in oils and watercolor. Her home studio is located in Pennsylvania and she exhibits in galleries in New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. She has published two books of her paintings entitled The Art of Conversation published in 2002 and The Art of Conversation: Manhattan published in 2006.
New for the 2009 Art Show is the medium of photography. Thirteen photographers successfully juried and will be included for the first time in the Immaculata Art Show. Pamela Panarella, director of special events, commented that "the Art Show committee had been discussing the addition of fine art photography for several years. We are particularly excited this year to offer a popular, local venue for photographer´s to exhibit their work and to expose our audience to some wonderfully talented regional photographers."
Admission to the ticketed Gala Preview Reception on May 8 is $75 per person. The general public is invited to view the show for free from Saturday, May 9, through Sunday, May 17. The honorary co-chairs for the 2009 Art Show are Brian M. Hartline, founder, president, and chief executive officer of NOVA Bank and C. Kim Hartline, who is corporate secretary/administrator for NOVA Bank.
Immaculata University, a Catholic, comprehensive coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352.
